Solidarité Socialiste

Solidarité Socialiste is a nongovernmental organization, established in 1963, working in the field of development cooperation. Its aim is to contribute to building a more just and democratic world.

Solidarité Socialiste, and organisations it supports in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, as well as partners with which it collaborates, combat exclusion and inequality, (re-)create and reinforce solidarity.

The vision of development of Solidarité Socialiste is based on social change: organizations and social movements are pushing companies towards more egalitarian relationships through collective action. The goal is to change what causes injustice and exclusion; to strengthen the democratic framework; and to aim at ensuring social justice.

For Solidarité Socialiste, development takes place through respect for human rights and democracy. That's why they support participation of civil society organizations in the design of public policies, be they social, agricultural, commercial or development policies.

In DR Congo, Solidarité Socialiste works in partnership with CRAFOP in the region of Equateur, the DIOBASS Platform in South Kivu and CENADEP in Kinshasa, Lubumbashi, Kolwezi and Bukavu. These three organizations are grouped within the Network for the Promotion of Democracy and Economic and Social Rights (PRODDES), which is part of Congolese civil society and plays an active role. In Burundi, Solidarité Socialiste supports the NGO ADISCO, which supports cooperatives, health cooperatives of coffee growers and their mutual beneficiaries, the National Confederation of Coffee Farmers Associations of Burundi (CNAC) and the Burundian Federation of Workers of Burundi, Agribusiness (FEBUTRA).
